Brad Pitt & Ellen DeGeneres “Make It Right” in New Orleans at a gala fundraiser

There are twenty million new photos of Brad Pitt in New Orleans from the past three days. These are just a few of them – on Friday, Brad stopped by some of the houses that his organization, Make It Right NOLA, has funded and built. Ellen DeGeneres came by too – I don’t know if she was filming a segment for her show, or if Brad was just giving her a personal tour or what. But they went around to several homes together and met some of the families living on Make It Right properties. You can read more about Ellen and Brad’s tour of the lower ninth ward here.

Then, last night, Ellen hosted “A Night to Make It Right” gala to raise more money for the non-profit to build nearly 150 homes in New Orleans. The photos of Angelina and Brad in the car – those are of Brangelina leaving the gala event, which was held at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans. The gala featured performances by Rihanna, Sheryl Crow, Snopp Dogg and Dr. John, and celebrities like Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey, Spike Lee and… Blake Lively (?) also made appearances too. Guests paid between $1000 and $2500 per ticket, and the event was sold out. Huzzah!

I love Ellen! I so want to go to New Orleans. Okay, that goes on my bucket list.

    • original sandy says:

brad is so handsome, i like that he cleans up well, other wise he’s normal, down to earth, when you are that good looking there is no need to constantly focus on it, there are more important things, like his event/project, i like Ellen also, not phony, either of them. it’s not about that, good for both for keeping it real and helping others.

  2. MS says:

The amount of make-up Pitt has on his face for the Gala is, well, disgusting!! Why? And so obvious!

I appreciate all that is being done in NOLA! Millions and millions have poured in and been raised to help those who lost everything.

    • lisa says:

See you were so upset that someone made a not nice comment about Aniston that you made sure to get your snark in about Brad..

      Good for you

      • skuddles says:

Lisa and other folks, I highly recommend you just completely ignore MS. She’s just trying to raise sh*t and p*ss people off, nothing more.

      • lisa says:

You are forever posting that picture all over. Not sure why. He looks great. and I guess that is a problem for you

    • Turtle Dove says:

I think he looks great in the pictures in the car. Jolie, on the other hand, looks slick and a little waxy.

Who cares if they’ve had botox. At least they aren’t carving themselves up like chickens.

      • NYCGAL says:

I know! I noticed she always looks slick and waxy. I wonder why? Other people have botox and don’t have that. She is still otherworldly beautiful so it doesn’t really matter, but I still wonder why her skin is waxy.

      • telesma says:

Waxy skin = peeled within an inch of her life. I’m not trying to be ugly, that’s what does that, especially coupled with Botox. The combination gives you a smooth, glass-like complexion.

    • MS says:

Oh Lisa, honey! Snark? No snark! Just calling it like I see it. Can you answer my question? Why was he so made up? What was the purpose of having all that make up on? He certainly wasn’t on a movie set!

      • lisa says:

How do you know he is made up. I see a man going to an event who is well groomed.

I saw the google feed and he didn’t look all made up. So I guess we have a different perspective.

      • Lis says:

Er, he was going to a gala.

No, he wasn’t on set, but he was going to be seen and photographed. He owed it to the charity to look his best.

Frankly, I think he may have gone a little overboard on the fake tan/skin peel.

        But:

        (1) It may have looked better under the lights at the gala, and in the photos being taken there. (I’m sure posing with people was part of the deal.)

We don’t know what it was like inside.

        (2) He was making an effort, for heaven’s sake. They both were, and they look event appropriate – I especially like what I see of Brad’s outfit for the event.

I think it’s rather sweet that he’s gone to all this effort. Why wouldn’t an *actor* wear things like mascara, fake tan and nice clothes? So what if he is wearing all those things?

I’m not a Brangeloonie, in any way, shape or form. But your criticism is unfair.

      • Hypocricy says:

All that make up on ???

He didn’t have a fake tan to show how healthy he is, he didn’t have mascara or eye liner or some partial wig on. Hell, he didn’t even remove the greyish little beard.

He was on a gala so i am sure he did his best to be at his best, yet no girlish make up and feminine over the top cocketry on his part like someone i won’t mention…

      • telesma says:

I’m a makeup artist and licensed esthetician. I don’t see a lot of makeup on him in those pictures. Maybe some bronzer or “event” cream, which is just a light refractive cream to add some color and “glow” under the cameras, but he’s not heavily made up.

I also doubt that he went all out for an event in New Orleans like he might for one in Hollywood or Cannes.

    • MS says:

Hypocrisy, your name is very fitting! No fake tan, no mascara, no eyeliner? You know ALL these things, how? Were you up close and in his face last night?

      That is what I thought.

      • lisa says:

And the same can be said of your comment about Brad being all made up. were you up close. were you up in his face last night

if so. please give us lots of details about the night. I want to know everything. What was in the gift bags. What did they serve. What songs were performed. Was Angie wearing a short or long dress.

YOUR comment is a bit hypocritical too. I mean you are so sure in your assertions, but you don’t like it when others are as firm in theirs.

      • Hypocricy says:

Really…weren’t you the one whining on the Jen thread telling people they don’t know the truth without being able to prove your saying ?

I thought you above all would perceive the irony of all this.

It’s especially for people like you who like to dish it out in certain threads but can’t take it in others where they whine and cry that i have chosen that name…You know like a mirror…

    • MS says:

Oh dear! What in the world are you trying to say? Seriously! Your response makes NO sense.

Where have I whined on a Jen thread? I am not a fan of either one and have to laugh at all who are so obsessed. It is comical! And it is also comical to believe anything a British Tabloid says.

      • minime says:

Right MS, you’re not a Jenaloonie and denial is a river in Egypt. Whatever…You think Brad Pitt had too much makeup and some others don’t agree with you…Since none of you was there to check it, your arguments are as good as any other…do you get the point now?

      • Jill says:

@MS: “it gives the haters a little bait, to continue to bash with their vile comments!”

        Sound familiar?

    • Sakyiwaa says:

hahaha! Dream on, MS! Theroux is the new Ken doll. Not Brad Pitt. He’s au naturale. But it’s okay if you just can’t handle the truth! lol!

      • MS says:

LMAO at all of you! It is so obvious he is made up… My gawd people, he has more make-up, spray tan than Angelina and you know it. This is not something one would have to be there to see… Look at the photos!

I guess if you keep denying it, then maybe it will become a reality. I could give a rats patootie whether he is or isn’t however, he IS!

No need to respond. I am off to spend some quality time with my family!

      • lisa says:

        @MS
you obviously cared a great big rat’s patootie. YOU made the 2nd comment. Actually when I came to the thread it was #1

and your comment about make up was the first thing you said. Not about the GALA. so yeah you care a great deal. And why with people yous say you don’t like.

    • Bobby the K says:

The images are kind of dark, just wondering how you can tell there’s any make up at all, let alone a lot of it.

  3. Lis says:

    Brad’s hair is…better? I think?

It may be that my standards are so low at this point, but I like this a lot better than the brown centre parting.

  4. CityGirl says:

I can’t help it – he is looking better and better

  5. lisa says:

There are so many great tweets and pics from the Gala.

Brad said that all the celebs that performed came on their own dime. which is rare. Most celebs get paid by the charity and have to give them these dumb riders.

Here are a couple of pics and tweetsfrom inside. Madd was there to. so cute

    ***********************

Great night for Brad and MIR.. Love that he has stayed committed to the cause.

I think the pictures are of them leaving their home. There were people on the street taking pictures. There were not pics of them leaving the event.

  6. Kimlee says:

    octavia spencer was their also.

  7. Luise says:

Brad is just gross looking with his scraggly pepper and salt mangina and his greasy hair. He used to be so hot and now he is just disgusting.

  8. PennyBall says:

It’s actually really sweet that someone took the time to carve that cabinet door for them (even if it ended up looking more like Lisa Marie Presley and Guy Fieri).

  9. alibeebee says:

they make me sick in a good way its nice to see people with so much money opportunity advantage really helping those less fortunate actually doing something and not just slapping their name on something and walking away. i didn’t like angie but she won me over and so did brad.. Crap 😉

  10. Linda says:

If he looks good, he has something done. If he doesn’t look good he is old. The guys dresses down, you haters say he is sloppy. He dresses nice, you say he has this and that done. If Brad cares about his wrinkles, he would’ve requested photoshopped the W cover and the Parade magazine. He looks pretty damn fine for a 48 year old.

  11. Sakyiwaa says:

this is awesome! they both look totally hot! i’m so glad Brangelina don’t just talk the talk, they walk the walk also.

  12. Francesca says:

He dyes his hair; why the grey beard?? Shave it off…

Plus both Ange and he do botox on their foreheads at least. They have to; it’s required now. haha

  13. Sakyiwaa says:

I really like Brad’s ring! And he’s really great with Ellen.

  14. P.M. says:

I don’t know but I think Brads’ skin looks amazing. You can’t get that smooth, creamy look with just makeup. Would love to know who the Dr. is and what he does. Course I couldn’t afford it.

    • telesma says:

I thought a while back that he’d had a non-surgical “facelift”. Fraxel or Thermage tightening, peel, fillers, Botox, etc. Nothing major, just some tweaking to make him look “refreshed”. I thought it was well done.

I actually think Angelina did the same thing first, and has continued having peels and Botox since. She used to not have great skin, in closeups you could see that she wore a lot of makeup and her skin was far from clear. But now it’s glass smooth, that’s what peels & Botox do.

ETA: A non-surgical facelift package usually runs about $5K, but it depends on your area. In some places it’s cheaper, others it’s not. In places where there are a lot of people offering the service it tends to be cheaper.

  15. islandgirl says:

    lmao@ the haters

    • lisa says:

And all their comments are the superficial. Of course Brad never looks good. Neither does Angie. They both are loaded with botox.. even when you see pics of the wrinkles and forehead creases.

This was a great event, and all they ramble on is how they look. But I guess they have to have something to be negative about. The tweets from the event talk of how great they both looked and how they stayed late in night to mingle and socialize with all the guest.

  16. spinner says:

Brad seems to look a bit better in these pics. Cleaner. Outside daylight is pretty unforgiving. Look at Ellen…every little flaw shows. He would definitely look better if he shaved the beard.

  17. KaitX says:

I have to wonder how effective Make It Right really is-its been 6 years and only a fraction of the 150 homes have been built by MIR. Thousands more houses were destroyed, why not focus on mass production instead of singular homes, the majority of which are completely alien to what stood in the 9th ward before?

This article sums it up quite well: http://thearchitectstake.com/editorials/new-orleans-post-katrina-making-right/

    • proth says:

sigh – I think this is my main issue with this project. It’s just so impractical…

Heart in right place and all, but at the end of the day it comes out as an architect vanity project.

      • Jill says:

The bottom line is his “vanity project” is helping people who lost everything in the hurricane and the ensuing flood to return to their neighborhood and rebuild their lives. There should be a lot more “vanity projects” like that, especially since the government doesn’t seem to be interested in doing anything to help these people.

    • Nikki says:

MIR is a private charity funded by private citizens that didn’t have to do anything at all. They are also expanding.
      http://www.publicinterestdesign.org/tag/make-it-right-foundation/

    • Katherine says:

Because that is not what this project is. You don’t have to support it. I’m sure there are other projects that would satisfy your requirements.

This is not about mass produced homes that will be given away. This is about helping people return to their neighborhood via a project that is embracing and utilizing new technology that is environmentally friendly and economically practical for lower and middle income homeowners.

These houses cost way more than was charged for them. Maybe twice as much for the earlier ones. This kind of energy efficiency and LED building of houses requires a bigger initial investment even though they will prove cheaper in the long run to maintain. MIR is trying to lower the costs as they progress and build more and they are reportedly succeeding.

This is about innovation and the future – not just about putting up cheap housing for the massess. Brad felt these citizens of the 9th Ward deserved better. I agree.

      • Flan says:

        Well said.

Some people even search for things to complain about when praise is most warranted.

They are no-people. They hold other people back and contribute nothing themselves.

    • telesma says:

I do like that he’s trying to show what can be done with green building, and I think his heart is in the right place, but I agree.

My main issue with the project is that it didn’t maintain the architectural vernacular of the region. That’s something that people were really worried about losing with Katrina, and IMO, it’s something he should have been more sensitive to, especially since he’s supposedly so concerned with architecture.

Most people in the area have no interest in modern styles of architecture, they want a traditional look. They want something that looks like it could have been built by their great-grandparents, something that “feels” like New Orleans. And his project definitely doesn’t do that.

I also think a lot more could have been done for the money. But like I said, I think his heart is in the right place. And it is gratifying to see anyone doing something to help the city recover.

  18. Princess Lizabeth says:

    I love Ellen!

  19. Jaded says:

They’re both doing good works with their money and fame. Who gives a rodent’s rectum if they have botox or Brad looks scruffy or dies his hair or wears make-up? They are doing good things. Save the snark for Snooki or the Kardashians or celebrities who do f*ck-all with their fame and fortune.

  20. serena says:

    Omg Brad was gorgeous!

  21. mln76 says:

I love them…I bet all the people living in Make It Right Homes are talking about Brads’ nonexistent Botox??? Oh and is Sheryl Crow kicked out of the Goddess Circle now???

    • proth says:

meh. considering that Brad himself has PUBLICLY stated she’s a good friend of his still, I don’t think this is the case at all. Otherwise Ellen, or even Oprah would be kicked out…

  22. Katherine says:

No matter how many pics are shown that prove neither of them have botox it will never change the posts of those with their own negative agenda.

Kudos to Brad and all his supporters for their continued work on MIR in NOLA and now elsewhere. It’s a wonderful program and the ripple effects from it have been groundbreaking.

Kaiser, if I’ve never given you props before for allowing us to edit our posts then I do now. Thank you much.

  23. skuddles says:

Wow, all the good work they do… my respect level for them continues to increase all the time. And I think they look unbelievably gorgeous in those car photos. Talk about a couple who has it all.

  24. original sandy says:

brad is a wonderful man, angie hit the jack pot, what a charmed life they live, also to have celebs support you when trying to do good, i admire celebs who make celebrity look honorable, they could be like so many others, selfish, shallow,it looked profitable for their cause, good for them, ignore the silliness of people’s comments ,who cares? brad looks good, all natural…it’s BRAD PITT.

  25. cmc says:

Wait, so what is with that weird painting? Who made that for them?

  26. buell says:

You could fry chicken with all that grease on Angie’s face.

  27. mew says:

Nice highlights dude! His hair looks just like *gasp* Jennifer Aniston’s!! (the guy’s known to imitate his girlfriends’ styles..) Hah!

    • lisa says:

mmmm you seem to be trolling in the wrong year.
Jennifer isn’t Brad’s anything. And for the record. Brad is a natural Blond. Jennifer not so much.

you should really research so that your comment is more accurate.

  28. Bobby the K says:

America could use a lot more of these liberal, lefty elitists. It would be a better, more compassionate place.

  29. The Original Mia says:

Great night for NOLA & Make It Right.

I laughed at the pictures before the event. The being known as Brangelina met the immovable force of Kentucky Wildcats post-victory.

  30. velourazure says:

    that painting is HEE-LAR-IOUS!

  31. aprayerforthewildatheart says:

I love what the JPs, and Ellen are doing in NOLA. Sounds like the gala was fun, and it was for a good cause.

  32. hyena says:

Awesome idea! Love pitt and ellen together.

I think brad pitt is gorgeous, i thought kurt cobain was beautiful. I do not like brad pitt’s cobain phase though. He looks awful!

  33. db says:

    Where was Portia?

    • lisa says:

She was in NOLA too. She, Ellen and Brad had dinner together the day those pics were taken. There are pics of them leaving together.

  34. Thea says:

    Third pic he looks hot.

  35. Adrien says:

He looks great but he reminds me of David Spade. Hey, David Spade is fine looking chap, y’all! IF he added several inches to his height, he’ll be hot. And he has a good dating track record w/c includes Jennifer Aniston. Jen has a type.

  36. dgg says:

    Wow,Jolie looks scary…

  37. Bella says:

All 3 of them look radiant and happy. Good for them!

  38. Granger says:

Everyone’s snarking about Brad’s looks, so I just want to point out how much older (and more her age) Ellen looks here than in her horrendously photoshopped Cover Girl photos. It’s ridiculous.

    • Ravensdaughter says:

Wow-I noticed that, too. She isn’t wearing make up at all, as far as I can see. She looks like a sad clown.

  39. Ravensdaughter says:

Excellent! Brad is very committed to this. I heard in an interview-next stop-Newark!

  40. racing says:
